I read tiyuri's guide, but ignored the bit where he suggests you get a lot of practice in Random Arenas and Team Areans first.
So, as soon as I unlocked Heroes Ascent, last Thursday, I went there. While no group would take me, I did get some random invites. One of those happened to be a predominantly guild team and earned my first 10 fame with them.
Later, I joined a team that gave me a searing flames skillbar, and earned no fame with them. The person that formed the team refused to call, and it was a mess. The following day, I took those searing flames skillbars and formed my own team. While I am obviously inexperienced at this game, it became evident to me that the build was strong, since we managed to get about 6 fame.
Anyways, I think people complain to much. I know that I am nowhere near as experienced or as skilled as some of the teams we played against, so playing with them would have made me deadweight. That, however, did not stop us from going toe to toe with some of them. I've made it a point to ask people for feedback, regardless of whether we win or lose. It sucks at first, because one is not used to hearing criticism, but in the end it's for the purpose of improving oneself. Yes, there were some teams that were not very gracious in victory or defeat (I read a great many "l2ps"), but it's just the nature of these games (the L2 community is way worse than the GW community).
As far as the OP goes, rank to me means experience. It is something I would like to attain, not because it would mean I'm good, but because it would show to others that I am no longer a complete newbie to this thing called heroes ascent.

people flash rank in a town and we say "Watch out for the glowing noob!" So basically not many in the game care about rank except the some of the minority of players in the game that PvP.

I've been playing this game for less than a month, but have played enough to know that people who say that are usually jealous of the "glowing noob." Sort of like in real life people are bitter at the guy with the good job and pretty girlfriend.

Depends. I think its cool when you see those Max rank for Norn, Asura, Vanguard or Dwarf title guys running around but aside from that I dont feel they are superior to me in any way.

I've been playing for over 3 years and I know that the "jealous" response to someone saying they don't care is just a defense mechanism for little kids who show off and meet someone who genuinely don't fkn care.
3 years, 0 fame, will stay that way. Just got my 3rd glad point today, maybe I'll try low level PvP more often but I'll never get a rank I bet, because I just don't care that much for PvP.
You'll probably come back saying I don't like it because I'm bad at it...well I don't like it so I don't do it, so I'm bad at it. There's a relationship there, cause and effect, but opposite of what you're going to come back at me with.
Stop saying someone who is in a PvE outpost talking smack on some PvP tard running around /ranking everyone is jealous. I know rank 9's who don't /rank people, and who talk smack on those who run around flashing tigers and bambi, not because they're a lower rank, but because they're /ranking in a fkn PvE outpost with a PvP title. Are they jealous? No. PvP /rankers in PvE outposts are idiots.

I've never seen a /ranker in a PvE outpost ever.

My guildie once got ranked by some Pigmail wammo because he kicked said wammo out for having Frenzy, Dolyak Signet, and Orison of Healing on his bar.
The Pigmail wammo had a wolf.
You'll find quite a few of them in places like ToA or DoA.

A calm, normal person would just ignore said people. On the other hand, people who get so worked up about someone else flashing a fancy emote in a videogame are either jealous of said "tards," or projecting their own persoanl issues on someone. In either case, I don't see how that makes the person degrading the pvpers any less of a "tard."

If someone is enough of a moron to flash a PvP rank at someone in a PvE outpost they deserve to be chastised. It doesn't mean at all that the people chastising are jealous. I chastise because it's something to do, to break up the monotony. Obviously, I'm not jealous. Why should I be jealous of something achieved by means which I choose not to participate in?
And who said we're getting "worked up"? We're not yelling at the dude in caps saying "WTF NOOB TAKE UR PVP TITLE TO RA NUB NOBUDY CARES!!!" The most I really do is "rofl...must feel great to flash pvp rank at a PvE player."
Give me a break.

Tbh, it usually does determine skill. When I go to HA and a player has a Tyrain Explorer (or some nub PvE title) on, and no Rank I still accept him, because they rbing up the Rank doesn't=skill statement. EVERYTIME they suck. However, I have played with R9's who sucked jsut as bad. So IMO, I can honestly say I am 50/50 on this. Most unranked players I've come across are bad, but some high ranked players are as well. However, when I come go to other forms of PvP and someone on my team flashes an HA emote, I feel somewhat better and have more confidence.
The thing is, I would like to help lower Ranks, even if they are bad, but I dislike HA now. I can't even help myself to get into HA anymroe, I used to love it, and can't stand just being in the district. Oh well, working on Champ Title anyway, that's what matters .

You're worked up enough to have an online argument over it. An ordinary person would just shrug it off.

The Hero and Zaishen ranks are noticeable and irritating; far too flashy. I wouldn't mind it if there was an option to toggle the visual display of them off.
People who flash rank emotes are like the Wammos who run around doing /drum on female characters, only worse.

This is probably because there's little excuse for a legit r9+ to pug. They're both the same guy.

I'm actually only here to test my avatar since I resized it now. Anyway, HA is dead IMO. I haven't HAed since it was 6v6, and yeah that was a pretty long time ago.

Do you also chastise the people running around in FoW armor with rare skin weapons in TOA? What about the ones wearing fancy gear in GvG? For most of those people, their choice of armor has nothing to do with you, it's their own little achievement that makes them happy to look at. Yes, there are a few players who try to use their fancy armor/titles as a sign of superiority, but the vast majority don't.
If I get bored in a PvE outpost and want to entertain myself, I'm damn well going to play around with my wolf. It has no more to do with you than my choice of armor does. If it somehow bothers you, I'm not going to shove it in your face and bother you with it. By the same token, I suggest you stop shoving your inferiority complex on those around you.
